Kate Turns 6!

Thanksgiving is always twice as fun at our house because we also get to celebrate Kate's birthday.  This year she decided on a roller skating party with a Tangled (Rapunzel) theme.

Thanksgiving 2012

Finally getting around to posting some pictures from Thanksgiving.  We had a lovely day and it was a great reminder of everything we have to be thankful for - especially these two:

We spent the morning at our house baking and watching the parade on TV.  Thanksgiving dinner was spent at Grandma & Poppa Larsen's house.

A Fall Weekend

We had a very Fall weekend this past Saturday & Sunday.  We started out with some fairly chilly soccer games on Saturday morning, followed by Jack's end of season soccer party at the neighborhood McDonald's Play Place (one of my least favorite places).  The kids got to have cake and received trophies - which I find hilarious because they lost every game by a huge deficit and Jack rarely participated.  But go team!  Wonder how many trophies we will accumulate throughout his lifetime?

Saturday night the kids were invited to their first Halloween costume party at their friends' Colin & Aiden's house.  So they got to give their costumes a trial run, eat pizza & cookies with their friends & decorate pumpkins!

Kate as a cheerleader and Jack as Spiderman in front of our front door.

Kate with her buddy Flannery and her younger sister Penny - also cheerleaders of course.

All the kids decorating their pumpkins.  Kate put by far the most time and effort into hers.  She definitely takes after me.

Kate with her pumpkin!

On Sunday we were blessed with sunshine so we took a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins for carving.  I was able to get one more use out of their pumpkin hats.  One of these years they are bound to either not fit or there will be protests at the request to wear them.

Next weekend my mom comes in to town.  So, fingers crossed for good weather and more fun Fall activities!

First Soccer Games

Kate and Jack both had their very first soccer games last weekend.  They both had a great time and Dave and I really enjoyed watching them from the sidelines.

Kate is on a 5/6 year old team with two of her friends from daycare, Cameron and Alex.  Their team name is the Lightning Sharks and Kate is #9.  They played really well for having only one practice together before the game.

Jack is on a 3/4 year old team.  Their team name is the Hippos and Jack is #1.  Their team didn't fare quite as well.  The other team was apparently a bunch of returning players who knew what they were doing.  I'm pretty sure they scored about 20 goals on us.  Luckily they don't officially keep score!
