YIF Auction

Dave serves on the board of directors for a non-profit called Youth in Focus which provides at-risk teens in the Seattle area an outlet by teaching them photography.  Last Saturday was the annual fundraising auction.  This was our third year attending and we had a lot of fun.  We had two full tables of friends, family and co-workers from REI and Safeco.

My mother & father-in-law - Cecile & Dave

John Curly was the auctioneer which was a lot of fun.

Cara & Mark joined us all the way from Spokane.  Friends we definitely don't get to see enough of.  We wish they lived closer!

Efren & Keith.  I've worked with Keith for probably over 10 years now, at both Safeco and REI.  He is a great friend.

Spirit Week

This week was spirit week at the kids' daycare.  So we had a different theme each day.  Kate had lots of fun with it.  Jack wasn't quite as willing of a participant.  But we managed to convince him to play along.

Monday was crazy hair day and Kate really wanted to color her hair.  So I went out on Sunday night and got blue and pink spray hair color.  I should have taken a side profile picture of Kate.  Her bangs are blue and then the hair that is pulled back is all pink.  And then the hair in her ponytail is streaked with pink and blue.

Jack was not too excited about his cool look.

Tuesday was pajama day - much easier.  Just wake up and go!

Kate took this picture of Jack - close-up!

Wednesday was sports day.  So they wore their Sounders shirts and their Mariners hats.  Jack didn't put his hat on until after the picture was taken of course.

Thursday was mix-match day.  Jack really didn't like this theme.  He was very upset about wearing two different color socks.

There's a smile!

And Friday was school t-shirt day.  Not very exciting but the entire school was decked out in red shirts!  Jack's is about 3 sizes too big.

Happy Easter

We have had a busy sun-filled Easter weekend.  Here are some pictures from all of the festivities.

On Saturday, our neighborhood hosted an Easter egg hunt at one of the parks.  The Easter Bunny even stopped by for a visit.

Kate told me that there was a human inside the bunny costume because she saw his shoes.  Can't fool the 5 year old!  I couldn't convince Jack to participate in the egg hunt until it was too late and the eggs were all taken.  Luckily Mommy snuck 3 eggs off the ground so he didn't leave empty handed!

The "real" Easter Bunny got to work after Kate & Jack were sound asleep.  Baskets were assembled and eggs were filled & hidden throughout the downstairs.

Kate woke up at 6:45 extremely excited to see if the Easter Bunny had come.  We let her go down and check, but we made her wait for a bit longer to wake up Jack and start hunting for eggs.

And Kate too - with silly Daddy and his awesome morning hair!

After the egg hunt, we made a bunny cake just like the one I used to make when I was little (except without the coconut because Kate doesn't like it - whose child is she?).

In fact, here is a picture of me and my brother from some time in the early 80s (notice my awesome hair) holding our bunny cake.  My brother looks so serious.

While I was busy frosting the cake, the Easter grass fight was commencing.  I discovered this all over my family room.  Mommy was not happy.  Apparently Daddy was busy watching the Masters when this occurred.

After vacuuming up that fun, we dyed our eggs.

They turned out great!

While the Masters was wrapping up (hooray for Bubba!) we got ready to head to Grandma & Poppa's house.  Here is Kate looking cute as can be in our backyard.  I love this picture of her!

The Easter Bunny is worn out now.  Off to bed!  Happy Easter everyone!
