Kate's 7th Birthday

The weekend before Thanksgiving we celebrated Kate's 7th birthday.  She had been asking for a Chuck E. Cheese party for months and I could not deter her no matter how hard I tried (bad memories from working there as a teenager).  So Chuck E. Cheese it was!  Luckily we had her party at 10 AM on Saturday morning so we practically had the place to ourselves.  She chose a Spongebob Squarepants theme (I'm not sure why - she always keeps me guessing!) and all of her best friends came to the party.  She had a ton of fun.  Here are some pictures from the party:

After the party, we went back to our house to open all of her presents.

Her actual birthday wasn't until the following Monday, the 25th.  Little did she know, but her best friend Tatum, who had moved away to California, was flying in that morning.  I sent her off to school and told her I would have a surprise for her when I picked her up.  When I got to her school that evening, I had Tatum with me and walked into the gym.  She was so happy!  And a little shocked!
We all went out to Red Robin for dinner.  The girls had so much fun being reunited.  They got to spend some more time together throughout Thanksgiving week before Tatum and her family flew back home.  It was the perfect birthday surprise!

Kate's main birthday gifts from us were a new bed and a re-decorated bedroom.  This is what her bedroom looked like when we first moved into the house - pastels & princesses:

And here is what it looks like now!

You can't tell from the picture, but the turquoise paint on the wall has glitter in it so her walls sparkle in the light.  Very fun.  She loves her new room!

Happy 7th Birthday to our favorite little girl!

Halloween

I know it is almost Christmas, but it is never too late to post a few Halloween pictures, right?  Well here goes.  This year Kate decided she wanted to be Super Girl.  She really wanted Jack to be Superman with her, but he could not be deterred from being a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (Leonardo to be exact).  So instead, she managed to talk her buddy, Noah, into being her Superman!

We kicked off Halloween with the annual costume party at the Flynn's house.

This is the kids in front of our house before we left for the party:

Jack's best friend, Evan, was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle too!

Always a fun party!

This year I decided to give up control of the pumpkin designs and let the kids each design their own.  This is what Jack came up with:

I wasn't sure how I was going to turn it into a jack-o-lantern, but luckily he instructed me on where to carve.  The pumpkin on the right is what we ended up with.  The one on the left is Kate's creation.

I did save one for myself for a little haunted house.

We have a tradition with the Fremont family of meeting at our house on Halloween night for pizza.  Then we all head out to trick-or-treat around our neighborhood.  My parents usually fly in as well and join in the fun.  Here are our little trick-or-treaters before we headed out:
